Terms and Conditions

The following terms are a legal agreement between My Tennis Leagues (“MTL”, “we”) and users of the website (“the user”, “you”) for the purposes of tennis league matchplay and associated services (“the service”). These terms and conditions set forth the provisions under which the user may use the service. By creating an account the user agrees to these terms. Failure to comply with these terms can lead to account suspensions or permanent deletion.

1. Legal & acceptable use of our service


The user agrees to use the service for legal, authorised, and acceptable purposes only. The user will not use (or assist others in using) the services in any way that violates, misappropriates, or infringe the rights of MTL, its users, or others, including privacy, publicity, intellectual property, or other proprietary rights, illegal, obscene, defamatory, threatening, intimidating, harassing, hateful, racially or ethnically offensive, or instigate or encourage conduct that would be illegal or otherwise inappropriate, including promoting violent crimes, involve publishing misinformation, misrepresentations, or misleading statements, impersonate someone else including MTL, clubs and/or admins, involve sending illegal or impermissible communications.

2. Creating an account


2.1 The user agrees to provide real, accurate and up-to-date information about themselves when creating an account.

2.2 The user agrees to keep this information up to date. Certain information can be updated via the settings area including email address, phone number and address.

2.3 We highly recommend uploading a picture of yourself however this isn’t compulsory. In any case, the user is forbidden from uploading content they do not own (or do not hold license for) or that is inappropriate including but not limited to pictures of nudity or violence, offensive, explicit or illegal pictures, anything misleading or politically motivated.

2.4 The user agrees to set a password of suitable strength and take full responsibility for the safety and security of their account. Furthermore, the user agrees to contact us immediately should they suspect any unauthorised breach of their account.

2.5 The user agrees they are above the age of 18 or has the permission from their parent or guardian to use the service

3. Signing up to a league


3.1 The users agrees to check their eligibility before registering for a league including but not limited to having the correct club membership, meeting any age, gender or rating restrictions etc.

3.2 The user acknowledges that, by entering a league, they are committing to a predetermined timeframe in which they must make a concerted effort to play all their matches and be proactive in communicating with the other players in their division.

3.3 When signing up for a doubles league, the user confirms that they have permission from their doubles partner to enrol them in the league and, in the instance where their doubles partner does not yet have an active MTL account, the user has permission to activate their account using their full name and email address.

3.4 In cases where the user is under the age of 18, the user confirms they have permission from the bill payer to enter a league.

4. Playing matches


4.1 The user agrees to abide by the league rules.

4.2 The user agrees to abide by the rules and regulations set forth by the club in which they play their league matches.

4.3 In the instance where a user is under the age of 18 years old, they confirm that they have the full permission of their parent or guardian to play the match and that their whereabouts are known at all times.

4.4 The user agrees to play their matches in good spirit and with an emphasis on fair play. If an agreement between the user and his/hers opponent cannot be reached then the point should be replayed.


4.5 The user agrees that if they are no longer able to play any matches that they withdraw from the league for the remainder of the season.

4.6 We recommend playing matches at the club in which the league belongs however, providing both parties agree, matches can be played at any venue.

5. Submitting Results


5.1 The user agrees to submit real and accurate match results as soon after a match as is feasible via the inbuilt results submission form located in your division.

5.2 in the event that a result is submitted incorrectly the user agrees to notify MTL or their club admin so that corrections can be made.

5.3 The user agrees to keep commentary clean and clear of any profanities and general negativity towards the match, result or opponent. If there were no positives, comments should be left blank.

5.4 The user agrees that match results submitted after a league’s end date will be voided.

5.5 If the user notices a mistake in a result submitted against them they agree to flag the error using the in-built ‘report’ tool (located in the bottom-right corner of the result box on their league page).

6. Dispute resolution


6.1 All decisions made regarding results, disputes, seasonal promotions and relegations are made at MTL and/or a club admin’s discretion and are final.

6.2 The user agrees to report any disputes in a timely fashion and acknowledges that claims made after a season has officially closed will not be considered.

7. Messaging


MTL’s in-built messaging feature is designed to help players easily communicate with each other for the purpose of scheduling matches and discussing matters pertaining to their league.

7.1 The user agrees to use the messaging feature for the purpose it is intended (as stated above) and not to harass other players in anyway including, but not limited to, spamming, abuse, cheating, selling, etc.

7.2 The user agrees that, should they encounter any messages that break these terms, they will report them immediately (this can easily be done by hovering over or clicking the message and clicking the flag icon that appears).

7.3 MTL takes no responsibility for any user generated content received through the messaging feature and, as such, the user agrees to take caution when using the feature.

7.4 The user agrees to exercise caution when reading or following instructions sent through the messaging feature particularly in instances where the user is being asked to visit 3rd party websites.

7.5 The user acknowledges that MTL, a club or a club admin will never ask for sensitive information including, but not limited to, passwords, billing or personal information. The user can distinguish between an official message received from MTL, a club or a a club admin by the green ‘verified’ badge (for MTL and club) or Blue admin badge (for admins) found pinned to the bottom-right side of the the profile disc in a user’s inbox.

7.6 MTL logs all messages sent and received through the messaging feature for the purpose of delivering the service. The user acknowledges that messages are unmonitored and takes responsibility for how these messages are consumed.

8. Payments & Refunds


8.1 Payments made whilst using the service are non-refundable unless otherwise agreed by MTL in writing. In instances where refunds are given, please be aware that they are subject to a banking fee of 1.4% + £0.20p.

8.2 Payments are processed securely using Stripe (https://www.stripe.com). MTL do not hold any sensitive billing information.

9. First Party Communications, Marketing & Promotions


9.1 The user agrees to receive key, mandatory email communications from MTL relating to the services in which they have subscribed including but not limited to account verification, transaction emails, password reset emails.

9.2 By default, the user agrees to receive ‘first party’ marketing and promotional emails from MTL and their club. The user acknowledges that they can unsubscribe from such emails by clicking the ‘unsubscribe’ button at the bottom of these emails.

9.3 The user agrees that by using the service they will receive occasional sponsored inbox messages from relevant and carefully selected brand partners.

10. Third Party Marketing & Promotions


10.1 By default, the user agrees to receive occasional ‘third party’ marketing and promotional emails relating to products and/or services from trusted, carefully selected partners. The user acknowledges that they can unsubscribe from such emails by clicking the ‘unsubscribe’ button at the bottom of these emails.

11. Safeguarding


MTL takes the safety of its users very seriously. If you, or someone you know is in immediate danger you must call 999. For any other non-immediate concerns about your safety or the safety of others using the service you can contact us so we can help. 12. Licenses


12.1 MTL does not claim ownership of the information you provide when using the service. The user agrees that they own the necessary rights to such information and has the right to grant licenses as per our terms.

12.2 MTL owns all copyrights, trademarks, domains, logos, trade secrets, patents, and all other intellectual property rights associated with our services. The user may not use our copyrights, trademarks, domains, logos, patents, or other intellectual property rights unless express written permission is granted.

12.3 In order to provide our service, you grant MTL a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty free, sub-licensable, and transferable license to use, reproduce, distribute, create derivative works of, display, and perform the information (including the content) that you upload, submit, store, send, or receive on or through our service for as long as is necessary to operate our service. The rights you grant in this license are for the sole purpose of operating and providing our service for example; displaying your profile picture, sending your messages, storing results for and against other users etc.

Reporting copyright, trademark or IP infringement. To report claims of copyright, trademark or IP infringement, please contact us. We will, in accordance with these terms, take action against anyone infringing or abusing the intellectual property rights of others.

13. Liability


MTL cannot be held liable for injury, loss or damage of equipment or incidents that occur on or off court at any time. The user indemnifies MTL against all such occurrences in perpetuity.

14. Indemnification


The user agrees that, if a claim is made against MTL in relation to your actions, information, or content on the platform, they will defend, indemnify, save and hold MTL and associates harmless from and against all liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses of any kind (including legal fees and costs) relating to, arising out of, or in any way in connection to your use of the service, including information provided, breach of our terms or of applicable law or any misrepresentation made by you. You will cooperate as fully as required by us in the defence or settlement of any third party claim.

15. Availability and termination of the service


15.1 MTL reserves the right to cancel or amend the service at any time without notice

15.2 MTL reserves the right to refuse the use of the service to anyone with good reason at any time. In such cases a reason will be provided on request.

15.3 If the user wants to express their right to be forgotten, they can do so by contacting us. The user acknowledges that access to the service, via the account in question, will be permanently prohibited and all personal information deleted. The user also acknowledges that certain data including but not limited to scores, results commentary, news feed items will remain visible by other users for as long as is necessary for us to deliver the service.

16. Disclaimer


MTL will use all reasonable skill and care in providing the service to the user in a safe, secure and error free environment however, we make no guarantees that the MTL platform nor any features within will always operate without disruptions, delays or imperfections. The user agrees to use the service at their own risk. MTL provides the service “as is” without any warranties that the information provided by us is accurate, complete, error free, secure or safe. We do not control nor are responsible for when or how our users use the service.
